Course Requirements

The IGERT program does not typically add any course load on top of the total course load (credit-wise) of the participating graduate programs. However, the IGERT program does require fellows to broaden their horizons by taking two integrative courses on stem cells developed for the program and atleast one extra-disciplinary course. These courses can be treated as the graduate electives for the home graduate programs, so the average student will not need to take any extra courses beyond their PhD course requirements. Additionally, a special topics course(s) regarding ethics and professionalism will be required.  Further information on this can be obtained through the IGERT program office.

As summarized above, all IGERT fellows will be required to take atleast 3 courses and a special topics course(s).  The two courses established specifically for this program are Stem Cell Bioengineering and Tool Box for Stem Cell Engineering.  A few of the possible extra-disciplinary electives are listed below.  For a full listing, please contact the IGERT program office.
